Passover
This week we are featuring devotionals written by members of Knollwood. Today’s devotion is written by Amanda Ledbetter.
Passover is a sacred summons and holy invitation to us.
After the disciples followed Jesus’ directions of where to set up for Passover, He gave them a sacred summons and holy invitation. Jesus chose to observe this meal with those closest to Him, reclined and relaxed. It was a family meal.
Take and eat this bread. This is my body broken for you. Take this cup. This is the new covenant: my blood poured out for you. Actively receive.
Jesus invited the disciples, and He invites us to join Him also. The disciples were given a seat at the table to rest, worship, and acknowledge. To see THE Passover Lamb. The One for sinners slain. They were invited to partake. To drink the cup. To eat the bread. To see with fresh eyes the Gospel coming to bear. The new covenant. We are invited too.
You have an invitation to join Jesus. You have an invitation to receive His body and blood. You have an invitation to know deeply the Lamb of God. To rest and rejoice. To feast upon the goodness of His sacrifice.
This is His body broken for you.
This is His blood poured out.
Join Him.
Father, we ask that You would set our hearts and eyes upon Jesus, the spotless Lamb of God. We pray that You would humble us, convict us, and remold our hearts to love the things You love. We pray that You would give us rest and joy as we consider our salvation. Let us rejoice that You are the Passover Lamb.
